I just read this article (by following a link from some other journal). I know nothing of the Hebrew language, and numerical analyses of names and words always brings out my inner skeptic, so I post this here for my more learned friends' opinions.

If I understand the concept, the author is saying a woman's desire to be beautiful and a man's desire to have a beautiful woman are both manifestations of our desire to be like God. While I don't necessarily disagree with the fundamental concept -- I tend to believe in that "God-shaped" hole in every one's soul -- I'm not entirely persuaded by this argument. It relies too heavily on numerology, which to me is a questionable basis for analysis. Any other opinions?

I cried as the pastor put ashes on my forehead. Again. Sheesh, Communion Sundays and Ash Wednesday and Christmas and Easter and when singing certain hymns. They're getting used to seeing me bawl by now.

I shouldn't be so flippant about it.

My gratitude is so deep that it expresses itself through tears. I consider my life a gift from God, even on the bad days. Sobriety will do that for you.
