I was so tired last night that I didn't even think about writing up details of our day yesterday until I read [livejournal.com profile] ravensroads' account of her yard sale.

Details, details )

Spouse was so encouraged by the final tally that he wants to hold a sale every six months. He has another think coming.

Spouse has just informed me he's about to take the computers down for transport to the new house. I guess I'll see you all sometime tomorrow or Monday. Moving. Bleh. Always interrupting my internet time!!

Church.

Today was my final Sunday at my church. The pastor called me up in front of the congregation to give me a blessing. It's a sweet little ceremony, perhaps unique to this particular congregation. I've never seen it done at any other Methodist church. I cried. Of course.

Then I sang the offertory, one of my favorite old-timey hymns, "How Great Thou Art." Perhaps I should say, I almost sang it. I made it through the first two verses all right, but I broke down on the third chorus. And then, and then, the congregation picked it up and sang the rest for me. And gave me a standing ovation afterward.

Hot Springs, a town roughly the size of Yuba City -- in fact, it's somewhat smaller -- has 14 Methodist churches. Yuba City has two. Well, three, but one's Korean. I don't speak Korean.

Finding a new church may be a challenge.

Q. What time did I wake up this morning?
A. Not sure.
Q. What time did I give up any thought of going back to sleep and get up?
A. 3:40 a.m.

Sigh.

So I'm cruising LJ. I should go read.

Egad.

I just realized I have only a few more days to get books ready for release as I drive across the U.S. from Arkansas to California.

That "states visited" map you all are posting (which I did a while ago; it's somewhere in my archives) reminds me I will probably take a northern route on my grand solo relocation trek and hit parts of the country I've never seen before, like northern Colorado, southern Wyoming and northern Utah. We'll see.
