Interesting things happen when you click a link, and it leads to another link, which leads to another....

I ran across a website devoted to Rory Gilmore of The Gilmore Girls, a TV show I've never watched and know nothing about. It seems Miss Rory was a reader of renown, and this website had listed all the reading material she had mentioned or read during the course of the series.

And so, in the best interest of all readers everywhere, I copied the list, alphabetized it, eliminated the duplicates, corrected spellings and authors as necessary, and lastly deleted the travel guides and dictionaries. I hereby present to you:

The Rory Gilmore Reading Meme!

Bold those you have read, italicize those on Mt. TBR, strike through those attempted but never finished.

And please let me know if you see any duplicates, misspellings, or misattributions that I missed.

Cut because the list has 239 books )

Whew! That's a lot of books to be mentioned in one TV series.

Take Which Doctor Who companion are you? (girls) today!
Created with Rum and Monkey's Personality Test Generator.
You're Sarah Jane Smith!

The intrepid girl reporter, you invented spunky. You never rest in your relentless pursuit of what The People (and you) Want to Know, and have a profound sense of justice. You are cheerfully incapable of following orders, and have a very individualistic sense of style--much like the Doctor himself. It's no wonder you two get on so well, even if his absentmindedness makes him a bit of a handful sometimes.

Your result for Awakening the Hero Within: Hero Archetype Test...

You are the Innocent

75% Innocent, 13% Orphan, 58% Warrior, 54% Caregiver, 58% Seeker, 67% Lover, 63% Destroyer, 54% Creator, 48% Magician, 50% Ruler, 71% Sage and 25% Fool!

Goal: remain in safety

Fear: abandonment

Response to Dragon/Problem: Deny or seek rescue

Task: Fidelity, discernment

Gift: Trust, optimism, loyalty

Addictions: Consumerism, sugar, cheerfulness

The Journey of the Innocent, in all its versions, begins in a kind of utopia, a safe, secure, peaceful, loving environment. Suddenly, we are thrown fro m that environment and enter a world where we are judged, where unfair discriminations are made, where conflict and violence are rampant and illusions are shattered.”

The Innocent in each of us, however, knows that if that safe garden is possible anywhere or anytime, even if we personally never remember experiencing it, then it can be recreated sometimes, by someone.

Only at the end of our journey are we Wise Innocents, knowing the whole breadth of life’s experiences, and choosing to create a peaceful, egalitarian world where all creatures can be known, honoured, and empowered.

The Innocent also believes that it is important to stay defined by one’s persona and have no secrets from the world.

Shadow Side:

The Shadow side of the innocent wants to protect the innocent state by refusing the Fall, and can cause us to be in denial about our own actions. When healthy, Innocents transgress, forgive themselves, moderate their behaviour, and move on. Shadow innocents blame themselves if others violate their principles.

How others will see you:

Shadow Orphans will tempt the Innocent to cross the physical and metaphorical street and to flout the rules. The Shadow Warrior will wage war on the Innocent, criticizing unmercifully.

The Shadow Caregiver will demand sacrifice and accuse the Innocent of selfishness if he or she shows the slightest regard for personal wishes or welfare.

You will see others as:

Seekers will be seen as heretics, Destroyers as enemies, Lovers as immoral seducers, and Creators as dangerous sources of hubris.

You Are the Artist
You are unique and inspired. You aren't happy unless you are making art of some sort.
Almost anything can be a catalyst for your creativity. You find the whole world stimulating.

You have beautiful visions, and you're good at expressing them. You like people to see what you see.
You also have an inventor's spirit. You're always thinking up new ideas and concepts.

I can live with that. Although, I rather expected something more along the lines of "You Are the Hermit". :D

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

Your Word is "Think"

You see life as an amazing mix of possibilities, ideas, and fascinations.

And sometimes you feel like you don't have enough time to take it all in.

You love learning. Whether you're in school or not, you're probably immersed in several subjects right now.

When you're not learning, you're busy reflecting. You think a lot about the people you know and the things you've experienced.

If you could have one thing right now, what would it be? -- A new place to work. Not a new career or a new agency, just a different office to go to every day.

Are you an innie or an outie? -- You gotta be kidding me.

Do you nap a lot? -- Lately, yes. Normally, um, yes.

Who was the last person you hugged? -- Spouse! Smooched him, too!

What is your favourite weather? -- Clear and coolish, but not too cool, or warmish, but not too warm. Anything below 50F and over 80F and I start getting uncomfortable.

How many pets do you have? -- Three. Well, four if I count spouse.

What's the most recent dream you remember? -- Um. I don't remember my dreams. At least, not recent ones. I remember a couple of nightmares I had when I was a kid. But that's not the question.

Where would you see yourself in ten years? -- Retired! And sitting in my very own bookstore, drinking tea and knitting.

What's your favorite genre of music? -- I have to choose? Okay, my favorite is anything except gangsta rap and the Top 40 with a twang currently called "country". I'm not overly fond of what passes for Top 40 these days either. Otherwise, play it! I'll probably like it.

What's your favorite food? -- Mongolian beef, when it's made right.
