It's funny you should ask about buying one, though: spouse's first response when he saw them was "Can I sell those for you?" (He has a half.com store.) So, I've been considering making them by the truckload and putting them out there. I'll have to design my own pattern first. These are made using someone else's pattern and selling them would be a no-no.
If you actually start BUYING yarn to make them, the Bernat Handicrafter bigs skeins of cotton yarn that they have at Jo-Ann's work nicely - especially the self-striping ones, they make a great effect!
I'll keep the Handicrafter in mind. Right now my LYS has skeins of Bernat Gloucester Sport (a discontinued 100% cotton) on clearance for $1 each. I'm considering cleaning them out this weekend.
