Pick 10 of your favorite movies.

Find a quote from each movie.

Post them here for everyone to guess.

Italicize when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
(Striking out makes it hard for people to read.)

Looking them up is cheating, please don't cheat.

  3. As Charles Foster Kane, who owns eighty-two thousand, six hundred and thirty-four shares of public transit - you see, I do have a general idea of my holdings - I sympathize with you. Charles Foster Kane is a scoundrel. His paper should be run out of town. A committee should be formed to boycott him. You may, if you can form such a committee, put me down for a contribution of one thousand dollars.

  10. You put a greased naked woman on all fours with a dog collar around her neck, and a leash, and a man's arm extended out up to here, holding onto the leash, and pushing a black glove in her face to sniff it. You don't find that offensive? You don't find that sexist? -- This Is Spinal Tap, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bcjennyo.

Yep, a line said by any number of the characters in any number of the movies, but first said (I think) by C3PO as he and R2D2 hiked into the desert after they crashed on Tatooine.

Snakes, why is it always snakes?

Dr Strangelove!

James bond kept getting in my way, and I knew Roger Moore was NOT right. :) It's gotta be Dr. Strangelove. (or strangeglove as I used to think it was called)

#2. Ghost Busters

That is astounding! I thought I had actually gotten one.

What's even weirder is that I remember bursting with date-embarrassing laughter at that line in a movie theater. And I've never heard of They Live. Please don't take this as an expression of doubt. I've looked the movie up on IMDB and discovered that it was a 1988 release; by that time, I had stopped visiting cinematheques regularly; more than four movies at one venue confused me.

I think Ghostbusters has a similar line, so don't feel too bad. And They Live is definitely a cult flick. I was surprised anyone knew the reference.

#2 is Rowdy Roddy Piper in They Live. *swoons over actor version of Rowdy Roddy*

Gold star! I didn't think anyone would get that.

I admit to an 80s obsession with the WWF and Rowdy Roddy Piper and Tito Santana. Checking Roddy's IMDb page, I'm surprised to only learn now that he's Canadian!

I never cared (and still don't care) anything about wrestling, but this movie is priceless.

It was playing on latenight TV not that long ago, so I tuned in. Wow. Niblet factor 10! But, put in the context of 80s star vehicle for ex-wrestler, not too too horrible, I guess.
