Harvard College's Face Perception Test
Famous People
Out of 30 faces, you correctly identified 29.
You were familiar with 29 of the people in this test.
If we exclude the ones you were unfamiliar with, you got 100% correct.
On our previous version of this test, the average person with normal face recognition was able to recognize about 85% of the faces they were familiar with. If you missed more than half of the faces you were familiar with, this may indicate face recognition difficulties.

Old/New Faces
Out of 20 target faces (ones you studied in the first part of this test), you correctly identified 20.
Out of 30 nontarget faces (ones that didn't study in the first part of this test), you correctly responded that you had not seen 22 of them.
Overall, you got 84% correct
The average person with normal face recognition scores about 85% on this test. If you scored less than 75% on this test, this may indicate face recognition difficulties.
***Please note that a low score on this test does not necessarily mean you have problems with face recognition. Similarly, a high score does not necessarily mean you do not have face recognition difficulties.***

Date: Aug. 2nd, 2006 07:28 am (UTC)Movie and television stars from the '90s on left me blank. Sure, I knew the names once they were given, but as for having seen them — nah! I also noticed the absence of sports figures; surely, if Nixon is on there, Mohammad Ali is clearly famous enough.

Date: Aug. 2nd, 2006 08:50 pm (UTC)And I did better than average, about 95%, on the unfamiliar faces part. And yet, I am much worse than average with faces in RL - it's frequently a real problem for me; it takes me months to be able to correctly identify new co-workers or new students, regardless of age or ethnicity, unless they have some weird defining characteristic, like a wheelchair.
The questionnaire at the end was interesting. I could tell that some of the questions aimed at symptoms of autistic spectrum disorders.
