Controversial Questions meme

Stolen from most of my f/list:
- Would you do meth if it was legalized? -- I've already done meth, thank you very much. And, as much as I liked its effects, I hated me. I've been clean and sober for waaaay too many years to visit that dark place again. I have no intention of seeking it out, regardless of legality.
- Are you for or against abortion? -- I am against abortion for me, personally, at this stage in my life. At an earlier stage in my life, had I turned up pregnant, terminating the pregnancy would definitely have been under consideration. But I am only qualified to speak for myself. The medical procedure itself should continue to be legal and available to any woman who finds it necessary, for whatever reason she finds it necessary. Although, due to spouse's and my own infertility issues, I would urge any woman to seriously consider adoption before termination. There are any number of people out there who would love to raise your child.
- Would our country (United States) fall with a woman president? -- Bwahahahahah! Fall how? In world opinion? (Already done that, under the current white middle-aged male.) In moral standards? (Already done that, under the current white middle-aged male.) In ethical conduct? (Already done that, under the current white middle-aged male.) In personal freedoms? (Already done that, under the current white middle-aged male.) What a stupid question. No.
- Do you believe in the death penalty? -- Do I believe it exists? Yes. Do I believe it's necessary? Not usually. Although occasionally criminals commit and are convicted of such heinous and horrifying acts that it's hard to not to agree they deserve death.
- Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already? -- To borrow
madame_urushiol's response: "Yes. And tax the hell out of it." Along with every other controlled substance.
- Do you believe in God? -- Yes, in the sense that S/He both exists and is a guiding force in my life.
- Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized? -- Same sex marriage is currently legal in my state (California), as well as in Massachusetts. May it soon be so nationwide.
- Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are moving to the USA? -- I have no objection to any immigrants, regardless of country of origin, so long as they arrive here legally. And learn to speak English as soon as possible. Please.
- A twelve year old girl has a baby...should she keep it? -- Where are the parents of this hypothetical 12-year old? And why is she having sex at such a young age in the first place? No. She shouldn't. She's far too young to properly parent that baby. The child should be given up for adoption.
- Should the alcohol age be lowered to 18? -- Who wrote these questions? If the proper question is, should the age one can legally purchase alcohol be lowered to 18, then I say yes. If, at age 18, I'm considered adult enough to my make own choices about voting, marrying, buying a car, and joining the military, then I should be considered adult enough to make my own decisions about buying beer.
- Assisted suicide is illegal...do you agree? -- Another stupidly worded question. Do I agree that such an act is illegal? Yes, I agree that such an act is illegal, at least in some places. I don't know about everywhere. Do I agree that it should continue to be illegal? Nope.
- Do you believe in spanking your children? -- I have no children of my own; however, I've never been averse to administering a immediate and swift swat across the backside to a misbehaving young niece or nephew. Actual spankings as punishment, though? No. It's far more effective to use timeouts or loss of privileges as disciplinary measures.
- Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars? -- Yes. And then donate a goodly portion of the money to the ACLU.
- A mother is declared innocent after murdering her 5 children in a temporary insanity case, do you agree? -- Again with the bad wording. Do I agree that she is declared innocent? Well, to be pedantic, "not guilty"? The answer is: It's a simple fact. No room to agree or disagree. However, if the question is: Do I agree that the verdict was correct? Then the answer is, I don't have enough information.
- Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers? -- If I were fearful of someone else's opinion, I wouldn't have posted my answers.
