Sunday with the spouse
Apr. 3rd, 2005 08:14 pmSpouse did not have to work today, for once. The dealership was closed. Yippee! Quality time!
I went to church while he mowed the yard. After lunch, we packed Phoebe in the car and went on an adventure. We visited a few open houses in neighborhoods where we might like to live. Phoebe liked looking at houses, and was admired by all everywhere we went. Of course. Then we stopped at the pet store and picked up a supply of piddle pads and a new retractable leash for le pooch. Next was the park. Had to try out that new leash, you know! Phoebe liked being able to roam a little farther than four feet, but the leash malfunctioned in less than five minutes and would not retract. (No, it was not operator error, despite spouse's insistence on such.) The leash will go back tomorrow.

Upon our return home, we tackled the overgrown photinia hedge next to the street. I stood out in the street to deflect traffic while spouse trimmed the street side; then we took care of the sidewalk side. We raked the trimmings and stuffed lawn bags until almost dark. About three bags' worth remain. I'll probably end up bagging the remainder on my own, since spouse will be working until 8 PM the rest of the week.
Inside for the evening, we ate leftovers for dinner. The menus I had been using for the past week have left us with plenty to choose from. Now, it's time for jammies. And maybe a load of laundry before bedtime.
