avanta7: (Dark Side)

As if the world (or my family) needed more evidence...

...of my complete geekitude.

Exhibit A:

The other day at work, while assisting another claims representative during an interview, the client used the word "assimilate". I couldn't help myself.

"Resistance is futile," said I. The client and my colleague gave me a puzzled look.

"You will be assimilated," I continued. The client and my colleague looked even more confused.

"Star Trek reference," I clarified. "Never mind." The client nodded his head and went on describing his medical problems. My colleague looked utterly blank and kept typing. I went back to my desk.

Exhibit B:

My sister sent me an Amazon gift card for Christmas. Today I used it to purchase this:

Blade Runner 5-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition

Never mind that I already have the original version on VHS, and the Director's Cut on DVD. My husband just shook his head in disbelief. My sister told me I was weird.

Ayup. Insert geekhood here.

BTW, I am wondering ... how do you set up the text in your sidebars? Like, you have your menu listed out, and I have seen other people put in "What I am Reading", etc, and on your other side you have some general info ... I can't figure out how to do that??? :)

Ah. Okay, I'll try out my new crown here.

On your profile page, choose "customize" under the "Journal" heading. Once there, go down to the bottom and choose which layout sidebar arrangement you prefer. Then, click the "Customize selected theme" button. This will bring you to a page where you can make various changes to text, sidebars, links, etc. My menu is part of my Links list, without any links posted. On the left hand side, under the "Sidebar" area, I used a "custom" text box to type the free-floating anxieties blurb.

I had to experiment with various options several times before I figured out what worked. Go! Have fun!
