Sometimes "government efficiency" is not an oxymoron.

My passport arrived in today's mail. When did I order it? October 5.

Damn. That's fast.

Like [livejournal.com profile] onyerbike, my passport photo could double as a mugshot. Unlike [livejournal.com profile] onyerbike, however, I will not be posting the photo for all and sundry to ogle.

So now I'm eating coleslaw and wondering what sort of havoc I can wreak upon the world now that I can leave the United States on a whim.

Hehehehe.

Because this post is open to anyone who happens to pass by, I hereby publish this disclaimer for the edification of those chance passers-by without a sense of humor: I am not a terrorist. I'm a federal employee. No, they're not the same thing. But to be perfectly clear, I have no intention of deliberately causing harm while traveling. Do you think I'd risk my pension for the cheap thrill of committing treason? Pshaw.

::whispers:: C'mon...post it...you know you wanna...

How about just to all and sundry on your Friends List? Would it make it easier if it was to fulfill a meme? 'Cause I'll make it a meme....

:-)

It DID look like a mugshot, didn't it!

As for how quickly you got it, I'm sure it's purely clerical error. If they knew they'd been inadvertently efficient, there'd be someone on your doorstep tomorrow to take it back for another month or two.

If I had a scanner that worked, I'd consider it, but I don't think the photo would scan very well. US passports have holographic security features and other foofaraw all over the ID page.

If someone shows up on my doorstep, they'll have to pry it out of the lockbox. I'll have conveniently forgotten the combination. *grin*

(I think I might have I gotten it so quickly because I am a federal employee: my fingerprints are on record and the FBI has already done a background check. Who knows?)
