Self imposed hiatus, over
Jul. 31st, 2008 06:08 pmSo I disappeared for a while. Sort of. Did you miss me? Don't answer that.

And that's all the news that fits!
In the month or so since I posted anything of substance:
- Spouse and I discovered the past umpteen months of jumping through hoops to be certified as foster/adopt parents has been for naught. Unless we want to foster only. As soon as we were certified, I started sending out queries on available adoptive children, which resulted in multiple requests for our homestudy. I promptly forwarded said requests to our social worker, who then called and said, "Umm. I think there's been a misunderstanding. If you want to adopt, you have to be certified through the State, not the County." Picture me tearing out my hair and gnashing my teeth. Now we get to start alllllll over.
- I got lots of knitting and crocheting done. And started. Don't ask how many projects I have going right now. Please.
- Spouse and I escaped the ubiquitous Northern California smoke-out (oft mentioned by
whytraven) by visiting the Bay Area for a couple of days. I love San Francisco. I told spouse it's the only major metropolitan city I'd even consider living in. Too bad housing is so expensive there...
- Doctor put me on a new medication, which promptly triggered a major allergic interaction with an over-the-counter pain reliever I took for a headache and nearly landed me in the hospital the other night. Thank goodness for Benadryl. So doctor gave me something different again. We'll see how it goes. Stupid hereditary high blood pressure. At least I have good genes for low cholesterol.
- About 10 gallons of gasoline was siphoned out of my car sometime yesterday. Yep. Went to work with a nearly full tank, came home with a nearly empty tank. My car apparently gets lousy gas mileage while parked in the shade at the office. I filed a police report, but I told the officer I didn't expect they could actually do anything; although we have video surveillance of our parking lot, my car was parked in a spot that's obscured from any available camera angle. Locking gas caps will be purchased for both of our vehicles as soon as possible.
And that's all the news that fits!
